light_bulb_icon This section is valid for all product flavors.

In addition to 2D viewing capabilities, Geospatial Portal provides a 3D globe supporting the display of a base map and renders other supported data sources properly.

To switch between the 2D and 3D view, click the first button on the navigator toolbar . When you change to the 3D view, the graphics of this button changes and now can be used to switch back to the 2D view. By default, Geospatial Portal is run with 2D Map Control.

Coordinate system for 3D

Displaying the maps in 3D mode is possible only in the EPSG:3857 coordinate system. When you select the 3D Map Control mode, the coordinate system is automatically switched to EPSG:3857. Switching back to the 2D Map Control automatically restores the coordinate system that was used previously in the 2D mode.

2D / 3D map and legend synchronization

The actual map range is remembered when changing between the 2D and 3D map control.

light_bulb_icon Legend entries that cannot be displayed in 3D view are automatically disabled in Map Content. This limitation does not apply to WMS layers. WMS service layers are always displayable in 3D view regardless of the supporting coordinate systems. The myVR 3D Map Tiles and 3D Objects are displayable only in 3D mode.
