The Consumer layout provides smooth and intuitive navigation on ubiquitous touch screens. The technology framework behind the Consumer Portal, including CSS3 and HTML5, remains consistent across the broader Hexagon Geospatial mobile story, which is crucial to homogeneity of configuration and deployment.
Consumer Portal offers a high level of usability and satisfaction across desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile phones –simply everywhere modern web browsers are supported.
In order to run the Consumer Portal Layout, open your favorite Web browser and provide the URL to your application in the Web browser address field. The Consumer Portal Layout will start immediately.
The entire application screen is essentially a map window. All available tools have been simplified in order to make work with the map data easy, comfortable, and intuitive. Most of the functionalities are grouped on the sidebar panel, which can be shown/hidden if required. The sidebar panel is hidden at start up. In order to invoke any tool from the sidebar panel, click the appropriate icon on the right screen edge. The search tool, located in the top-left corner of the map window, is hidden automatically if not used.
To hide the sidebar, click

The configuration of the Consumer Portal layout is done via the web based Administration Console. Both pre-configured maps and search sources can be easily configured without any need for programming. Oracle direct access and support for GeoMedia data warehouses make the search easy to configure and very powerful.
The Consumer layout displays both raster datasets published through WMS, WMPS or WMTS services ,and vector feature classes published through WFS (WFS service offered in GeoMedia WebMap).
Depending on the Consumer Portal configuration the maps can be displayed in 2D or 3D mode (users cannot change the view mode). The 3D view in Consumer Portal requires WebGL support for the web browser used. On the Android devices it depends on the browser limitations.
