This feature uses the location mechanism of the Web browser in which the Geospatial Portal is run. Location method depends on the algorithms used by the particular Web browser and applied device settings, particularly on mobile devices the location can be based on GPS and/or Wi-Fi & mobile network.
Where Am I? feature in Geospatial Portal running on the Chrome, Firefox, Opera and iOS Safari Web browser works only with secured connections (HTTPS). This restriction applies only to the Chrome Web browser starting with version 50, Firefox Web browser starting with version 55, Opera starting with version 39 and iOS Safari starting with version 10.2 as the geolocation is no longer supported on non-secured connections. Geolocation requests served at the top level over localhost will still work.
